How much does the program cost?

How much will I pay for rent?

Can you find a job where my family is located, if I decide to stay with them for the summer?

Will I make back my money?

  
All applicants can earn back their money on the program but it all depends on each individual’s effort.

 
 

Is there an age limit?

Yes there is. Eligible applicants should fall within the 18-30 age range.
 
Can I stay with relatives?
Yes you can. Applicants are free to stay with relatives on the program. However, SWAT cannot guarantee that we will find you a job where you choose to stay. You can however source your own job.
 
How long do I get to work for?
The program duration is normally from May – September.
 
If I already have a visa, do I need another visa?
Certainly. The visa you may already have is classified as a visitor’s visa. Students are not legally able to work on such visas. The program however helps you to gain a J-1 Work Visa which will allow you to legally work for the summer.
 
What are the arrangements for accommodations?
Housing accommodations can be arranged by the company for students who will not be staying with relatives. Usually students are paired with (2) other roommates who would share the rent to make it more affordable. To reduce transportation costs, the company also makes an effort to source housing within close vicinity to the students’ place of work.
 
What is your Refund Policy if the visa is denied?
Applicants are reimbersed their program fee less US$500 retained by SWAT. Refund Payments are done at the end of the season after September 30th.

Rent varies based on the State you are living in. For example, rent is higher in New York as opposed to Florida. Therefore some students may end up paying on average $65 per week while others are paying in the region of $100 weekly.

 

Are we allowed to have more than one job?

Certainly. SWAT is responsible for sourcing one job for the applicant at their request. The applicant is however free to source other jobs, provided that they do not conflict with the hours of their first job.Please note that all second job MUST be approved by the sponsor before you start working that job.

 

Can I choose the State where I want to work?

You can choose the State where you would like to work, provided that you are sourcing your own employment. However if you will be sourcing a job through SWAT, you will have to select from the list of employers that we have contracts with.

 

What kind of jobs do you offer?

We offer job opportunities in the following areas:

Cashiering, Servers, Ride Attendants, House Keepers, Host/Hostess, Park Attendants, Cooks, Lifeguards, etc. Our list is constantly improving as we negotiate additional contracts with new employees each summer

 
Can I find my own Job?
Yes you may conduct your own job arrangement if you wish
 
Will I have to work on Saturdays?
Yes you may be required to work on weekends depending on the nature of your job. For those applicants who are unable to work on weekends due to religious commitments/beliefs, you may enquire from your employer at our Job Fair in January what your work schedule will be like.
 
How do I register for the program?
You may call, email our visit our office to schedule an appointment for a consultation/interview session with us. Within 24 hours of the interview you will be contacted by our office with an advisory of your status. Information will be sent detailing the procedures for paying your registration fee. Upon submission of that receipt to our office, an application package will be presented to you
Unfortunately this may not be possible as we normally work with a set list of employers each summer, who may or may not be located in the same area where you family lives. At our job fair in January, we will provide you with a list of all the States we’ve been able to contract summer jobs, and from this you can decide how feasible it is for you to stay with a family member
 
What if I can only come up with some of the program fee by the November 28th deadline? Will that deadline be extended?

Advisory of deadline extensions are normally issued closer to the deadline. However problems with payments can be addressed by the office if the applicant prepares a proposal outlining the dates when payments can be made. This proposal is normally reviewed within three business days and contact will be made with the applicant to advice of the status

 

Am I guaranteed a visa?

No. All U.S. visa approvals are done by the U.S. Embassy and it is up to the sole discretion of the embassy to approve visa applications. No Work & Travel company is legally authorized to guarantee visas to applicants.

 

If I’m a final year student can I still apply?

Certainly. As long as you are a full time degree student, within the age group 18-30, you are deemed a qualified candidate

 

What is the success rate for visa applicants?

We have a very high success rate. For Summer 2012’ we sent in 550 visa applicants. Only 30 students were turned down for a visa. .

 
How long has your company been in business?

SWAT has been in business “since October 2006

 
Is there a deadline for registration?

Yes. Our registration deadline is March 31,Or earlier pending the availability of jobs.
